If you have a business website you should strongly consider creating a blog focused on the keywords for your website. Younger consumers expect a blog so they can get the insider info and the latest product or gadget news. If this sounds like too much work or you think you can't do it, look at this blog. If you can do this, then you can blog. If your are looking for ideas, read other blogs just to get the feel of how it's done. Unlike a website which is often stuffy and boring, a blog should be more informal and conversational. Ask your spouse for input, ask your employees, children may also have good ideas. Business owners can get stuck on a one track mind so it's good to ask others for advice. Customers who interact with you on your blog will be contant sources of blog ideas for you. They may even give you ideas on how to grow your business.

To enable your blog on your website, you will need an RSS (really simple syndication)feed on your website. My XSite Pro website building software has this feature built in which I find really find useful and easy to do. Besides giving your customers new information about your products or services you are also giving the web spiders something to feed on when they come to your website. This will improve your Google ranking especially if you place a single blog everyday. This action constantly updates your website, something Google likes.

Internet marketing can be a very expensive jungle of broken promises. There are all kinds of ways to spend money on advertising on the internet that will cost you lots of money without putting any money in your pocket. There are so many self proclaimed experts that are selling the latest ebook with all the latest tricks or tools to gain search engine ranking on Google and elsewhere. Sometimes these web sites selling these products are very persuasive, that's what they are good at. Promises are one thing, results are a totally different matter. I find these suspected bogus websites kind of all look the same--few words, big type, big promises, "'easy solutions", special "today only" and they are all by some self proclaimed internet Gurus you've never heard of whose making over x amount of dollars doing this system and wants to share it with you. What a nice guy or gal!

There is no doubt that search engine optimization can be a complete mystery to many small business owners and, as a result, some will fall for this kind of advertising. Some of their suggestions might even work. That's where they get you: What if this is the one thing that works and you don't try it? When you are new at this you cannot tell the good from the bad. There's also so much information that you would have be a genius to figure it all out in the time you have allowed for your website promotion project.
